Take the dog to the vet. Mine is 16 and has one on her back. the Vet said it maybe just a cyst. Mine was tested to see if she could handle the anesthesia to find out what it was. The vet tested her and told me she was to old and could not handle being put under the knife. Mine is doing well it has not gotten any bigger but I still worry. She is my baby.

This could just be a non-cancerous tumor or cyst. Better to have it checked out by your vet right away. If it is that noticeable it probably has been there for awhile. It might not be worth the risk to your dog to have surgery on it at any rate. How is her health generally? If she is otherwise healthy, maybe she could still have a couple more years with you. It depends on what everything totals. Fifteen years is a ripe ol' age for any dog. You must have taken good care of her all these years. I'm sure she has repaid you with her love. You might be facing some tough decisions. You'll know what is the right thing to do in your heart. If ya need someone to talk to about this, please feel free. Peach

Hi there it could be a number of things. i noticed a small lump on my dog. we took it to the vets and they told us that it was a tumor. the vet said that she was too old to operate on
. over the past few months we saw the lump get bigger and bigger. two days ago we had to take her to be put down as she wasn't well. she was 14 and was the best dog in the world and i miss her dearly. Im sorry but your dog may have the same as my dog.

Older dogs are prone to developing tumors under the skin and particularly the belly and breast areas. Don't panic, if it is a tumor, it is most probably benign. For peace of mind and for your your best friends health, please physically visit a veterinarian. There's really nothing diagnostic about my speculative babble, a vet can put it all right as rain. Best wishes to your friends speedy recovery.

You should take it to a vet as soon as you can. Dogs can get breast cancer. I don't want to scare you, but I do want you to get it checked out. It may just be a cyst or something like that. Better safe than sorry.
