Me and my mom were talking to a friend of mine (also a coworker) and we talked for about two hours. Later wen we got home, my mom out of nowhere asks me that if i wasn't with my current boyfriend could I see myself with my friend. I asked her if she wanted me to end it with my boyfriend or something but she said no. What do you all think of this?

Just to let you know, both my parents love my boyfriend so it's not because they don't like him.

it seems like you and your mom have a close relationship and you understand each other well. you mom probably senses some chemistry between you and your friend (even though it may or may not be there...) and wonders if you sense it too. your mom obviously does like your friend and thinks that he might be good for you, although she thinks that about your current boyfriend as well.
basically, your mom probably thinks that your friend would make a good boyfriend.
hope that helps =)

She's probably just trying to help out. My mom tries to do the same sort of thing by giving me advice on random stuff- sometimes moms just try to make sure that you wont get hurt, especially if its somthing your mom went through herself. Also, even if she adores your boyfriend, maybe she likes this other guy even more. She's probably just trying to read to far into it, though, and trying to "help" when there's nothing needed to be "helped" on (for instance if you WANTED to date the other guy instead- your mom would rather see you get through it ok and with her guidence).
~sorry i type a lot ;) ~

That was NOT "out of nowhere". She observed your interaction with your friend and wanted to know whether he could be more than a friend.

Perhaps as you and your coworker were getting on so well, they thought that you may fancy him more than your boyfriend. Or you may be very compatible with your coworker.

She might just be curious.
She might really like him and want him to stick around.
She might not be totally truthful about adoring your boyfriend, it could just be your father that likes him.
She might want you and your boyfriend to move on to the next level and get married or something. (If your mother is a bit older then she might want grandchildren)

She probably watched you and your co-worker talk, and thought you guys seemed at ease with each other; maybe thought you guys were cute. So she probably just asked out of curiousity.

maybe it's just a question to get to know more about you...if they know this friend really well and want to know if you'd get together with him, it might be to get to know who you are, what you look for in a bf, etc. or it could be that he told your parents that he likes you and wants to know your parents' opinion or insight on whether or not you like him.

she's probably just trying to make sure that you are completely happy with your boyfriend. it seems like she's trying to tell you that there are other options in life and she wants you to be absolutely sure that you're happy with the guy you are with before you become trapped.
