John Haymson was both a fine artist and an illustrator of watercolors within architectural settings, which is why many of his works show scenes encircled by vignetted trees. He was born in Vienna, Austria in 1902, and began his art early.

Studying at the renowned Academy of Fine Art in Vienna, he worked with Luigi Kasimir, one of the modern master etchers, and became his protogee. He also studied stage and costume design with Max Reinhart in Salzburg. He lectured in art and aesthetics at museums and colleges and conducted student group excursions to Europe and Mexico for sketching classes. His works often shows scenes through Europe, Asia, and America, in cities and public squares, or scenes of typical activities of people in a location.)
died in 1980
