Hell is a concept created to control people the same as taking a rolled up newspaper and hitting your dog on the but when it relieve itself on your carpet. Heaven and Hell or right here on earth and dwells in the minds of men(women).

Heaven = a place or state of supreme happiness.
Hell = extreme disorder or confusion; chaos

Just a few days ago, hell was explained to me in another way other than the traditional fire and brimstone you usually hear.
Here it is:
In the ancient architecture of the middle east, cities were surrounded by high walls with gates at several intervals. These gates were huge of course, and the walls were thick enough to accomodate houses, stores and offices. The gate itself would have been large enough for many people and modes of transport to pass through at the same time. Running throughout the city, and obviously out the gate, was a trench. Imagine if you will, all of the sewage of the city, rotting flesh, old food, feces, urine, blood etc, running through this trench, out the gate and down to a valley (from Jerusalem this would have been the Hibron valley). The valley was a natural collection site for the sewage, and as well, dead animals that were unclean, diseased, unidentified bodies etc would have been tossed in there. There would have been fires down there of course, and the stench would have been overwhelming. Often times, the local leper colony was camped on the edges of these valleys.
These valleys became a clear picture - or definition if you will, about what exactly "hell" was. Imagine the scripture that says there will be "weeping and gnashing of teeth" as they are thrown into the firey furnace.

Doesn't sound like something I want to happen to me or anyone I love - as a matter of fact, I wouldn't wish it on the most vile offender.

I don't believe that God has made such a place.

Hell is the "here and now" if we choose to make it that way.

Why would God give free will and then punish you with eternal suffering when you made your choice?
