i have never managed to find anywhere which was useful and free, other than just asking my relatives, but of course that can only take you so far back.

a 5 generation tree includes you, parents, grandparents, gr grandparents and gr gr grandparents.
Those who are LIVING... like yourself and parents and probably grandparents are considered confidential information, which should NOT be online... IN A "COMPILED" form. Meaning.. you MAYBE can find the date of marriage...you MIGHT find the date of death. for a given individual, but it must be put together by you, together with your parents.
Hint- contrary to what I normally would advise, if you have living grandparents, the immediate thing is to get them on the phone and pick their brain about THEIR grandparents (that's the 5th generation). You need names.. if you don't have the name, how do you know what you are looking for?
It is something I love and know you can find with research...but it surprises me that a teacher might not grasp what is involved. NOT everyone is going to have access to this info.

The only way to get this information this fast is to talk to your relatives about it. My parents didn't like to talk about it (my dad in particular has anti-LDS sentiments and thus anti-genealogy), so I found a lot of information in my baby book that I've been able to confirm in small bits in conversation. Ask to see your parents' birth certificates and marriage license. Then ask grandparents for the same if you're near them, or at least for the names.

Good luck!

I wouldn't count on it. Nobody had ever done mine. I did it myself. You may need to get really busy. Start asking family.

not for free. you don't have time to do the research. only hope is to ask relatives. ask several so they can fill in gaps.
