My cat just had kittens, but where i'm living at I can not keep them, so we are looking for a house. My question is, are there any animal shelters out there that will keep her and her 4 kittens for about 2 months, then let us come back and get them? I have no problem if they happen to find the kittens a good home, but we definitely want our momma cat back with us. Please help if you can. Thank You.

The kittens can not survive without the mother, because they were just born 4 days ago.

Wow, dont you find it hard to belive some of these peoples answers to you? They avoid the real answer and basically tell you to get your cat fixed and blah blah, like its their business!! anyways, you can not take your cats to a shelter and get them back. I would reccomend looking for an animal sitter. go on craigslist.com and go under your city and look around and if you can't find someone that does it post your own collum ( its free) and explain to everyone what your looking for and ask how much they'd charge to keep your pets for 2 months. Once you get that done- get it in writing! If this is not an option your only other bet is to ask a family member or friend to look after them until the kittens can be realeased to a shelter and sold, or donated, or sold. If that also is not an option ask around at your local boarding places how much they'd charge to look after them all and explain to them your problem. Or go to http://www.feedmenowcatsitting.com/ and find other sites like that around. Hope that helps!

I don't think that shelters would do it either. Maybe find a trusted friend or relative and ask them to keep the kittens for 2 months. Or if you can keep the kittens with you as they don't take up much space until they are around 7 weeks old. My cat just had kittens also and all we need for them is a small room so I don't see why you cant keep them until they are 7 weeks old and the mama cat might be confused and scared in a new lace. Anyway I ope everything works out

Animal shelters will probably take the kittens depends on the age. They will not hold the mom for you.Might want to check into boarding the adult cat or have a family member or a friend to take care of it till your ready to move.I ran into the same problem before.I had the mom and father and gave the kittens away but I was aloud to keep the other two at the station.I hope this helps you some.

For all you people asserting NO, i think of your questioning approximately how the undesirable lil animals get killed for no reason. My husband works for animal centers and that i comprehend what hazards there are. How might you sense if a rabid canines growls and tries to bites you and chases you? Or a feral cat that scratches and bites you till you BLEED. OR the unwell little kittens that are going to have a loooong drawn out loss of life. i'm in touch with the killing of those animals because of the fact it makes the time-honored public AND different animals safer! And no I dont believe them killing animals after a week yet that for the time of basic terms occurs at FEW animal shelters in the rustic. What else might you do with the overpopulated animals? they say there is 7 canines for one million human...thats the reason each and every person could spay or neuter their canines and cats. so as that they dont have un mandatory positioned downs.

You need to check with them for some of the small rescues might do it.
Do you realize that for every 1 person born, there are 7 puppies and kittens
born? At best, 1 will find a forever home.
And don't forget, that every "Free-to-good-home" litter takes homes away
from animals already at the shelter.
STOP letting your pets; or your friends, relatives or co-workers pets
contribute to the problem.
If you love animals, it is NOT ENOUGH to merely say "My pets are fixed".
Vow to educate and enable others to fix their pets too.
Spaying just 1 female dog or cat, will prevent 6 others from ending up in a
shelter the following year.
Please be part of the solution, NOT the problem!
Thank you. ^..^

Take the kittens to a humane society and get them adopted out. Get the momma cat spayed and then arrange to have her boarded at a clinic or shelter for 2 months until you can retrieve her. Shelters don't offer free boarding. Our humane society offers boarding to members, but we do charge for it.

I am sorry to say that there are no shelters that will do that for you. You might get lucky and find a cat rescue but I highly doubt it. I know that sounds mean but it is the truth. You might want to get your mama cat spayed so she doesn't have anymore kittens.

No animal shelters are not boarding kennels. You can find a kennel to board them or see if you can get a friend to keep them till you find a place. If they go to the shelter---its adoption or death if they are not found homes. Please spay your mama cat as soon as possible. Its important for her and her unborn litters.

I don't think an animal shelter would be the right place, especially if you want her/them back. You may want to try boarding them.
