I have no idea what a 'cup' size is ..... surely it depends how big your cup is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm guessing that's all US answers.

Butter in the UK used to be sold in 8oz blocks so it is normally half of the block. But as we are dragged kicking and screaming ever closer to metric the suppliers are changing our good old fashioned imperial measurements to metric. So now majoity of butter blocks in the UK are all 250g
