If you go to Purina.com you can see that none of Purina's pet food is on recall. However, they are voluntarily recalling some of the Mighty Dog pouches that the Menu Food produced that Menu Fooods does not include in the recall. This is just a precaution though. Purina is a very good pet food company and is one of the only ones that is not on the original recall list.

As several other people have listed there is a site that you can check at http://www.menufoods.com/recall/ which will give you a complete list. I was still warry because I had heard that there was a Purina recall and this site listed no Purina foods. On Purina site however they disscessed the recall and how it has effected them. The best infomation was in their first paragraph copied here in full.
"Nestlé Purina PetCare Company today announced that as a precautionary measure, it is voluntarily withdrawing its 5.3 ounce Mighty Dog® brand pouch products that were produced by Menu Foods, Inc. from December 3, 2006 through March 14, 2007. This withdrawal is in response to the recall initiated earlier today by Menu Foods, a contract manufacturer that does limited business with Purina as well as with other pet food manufacturers. Only Mighty Dog 5.3 ounce pouch products are being withdrawn by Nestlé Purina, including those pouches contained in multi-packs. Importantly, no Mighty Dog canned products, or any other Purina products are affected by Menu’s recall."
No worries.

This pet food recall is so sad for so many people, but it should be a real eye opener! Please be advised that all commercial dog and cat food is horrible and will make you pets life shorter. Purina, eukanuba, science diet all that stuff sold at super markets and vets offices. Vets are not usually trained in nutrition and if you really love your animal you should educate yourself a bit on natural pet food vs. commercial brands. Please read "foods pets die for" it will make you say WOW I can't believe I have been feeding this chemical filled by-product food for so long. If you just read the ingredients on the back of the purina bag you will see what I mean. I hope this information will help, I truly hope that you will at least give it a try.

Yes...but only the "mighty dog" variety has been voluntarily recalled...You guys might want to check out "The Blue Buffalo Company" which makes both cat and dog food. I'm not sure about the cat food, but the dog food is sold at PetsMart. Their website (www.bluebuff.com) will also locate a location near you that sells its products. This company is really good about using quality natural ingredients. Their dog food has no wheat, no corn, no soy, no beet pulp, no vague sources of fat, no copper sulfate and NO BY-PRODUCTS! The absences of corn, soy and wheat are due to the fact that these are the leading cause of allergies. No by-products means no nonrendered parts, other than meat, of slaughtered mammals. Non-rendered parts include not limited to, heads, necks, feet, intestines, lungs, spleen, blood, bone and viscera. Anyway, enough of the gross stuff. But, seriously, for the sake of your pet, check out their website..www.bluebuff.com. Every ingredient of their food is listed and described on the website. Just a suggestion!! :0)

No - only their "Mighty Dog" doggie pouch is on recall. Apparently, their cat food (Purina, Friskies, Fancy Feast, etc) are made in a different factory than those cats food placed on recall (these have been manufactured by Menufoods)

Go to www.menufoods.com. There is a complete list of pet foods by brand and type on it. Purina foods are not listed or they weren't last night any way. The really big name brands that I remember were Eukanuba, Iams, and Nutro.

I am a very sad previous owner of a cat that died just last Monday, March 12th...Walmart Special Kitty foil pouches are on the list and that is all Rocky ever ate...he wouldn't ever eat anything else. Rocky was only sick 3-4 days before he died of renal and kidney failure......I am trying to find others that had pets die of this.....I am seriously considering taking action. The people need to have some liability for what they put in the food for our pets to ingest....others that have had deaths due to this please email me. Thanks!

Check out this website ...
http://www.purina.com/
I don't think they are currently recalling cat food, just one of their brands of dog food.

my cat will probably be put to sleep in the morning. she is at the vets now, and is really sick. Is there anything that we can do? I believe they should be responsible for the vet bill.
