You dont need to listen to these people on here saying that you volunteered and junk. I understand how you feel, although I did re-enlist and extended with my unit I deployed with. So that means I will deploy again. Anyway, I know there are alot of guys getting out of the army in my unit and the retention NCO talked to them all and told them there are options to re-enlist but be in the national guard of your hometown for so many years. And then for a certain amount of time(I think it was a year but not sure so dont quote me), you will be non-deployable. So, to close, talk to your retention NCO.

I don't really understand the question, so I'm going to answer this as best I can. If your overseas tour is ending, depending on MOS, you can contact your branch manager, and request you get sent to a non-deploying unit. Also, I thought you have to have at least 13 months prior to ETS to be able to PCS. That's what I was told, so I might be wrong on that.
Branch in the Army is your MOS. I am a 31B, therefore I contact my Branch Manager out of Fort Leonard Wood for MPs. Your unit should have a number to your Branch Manager. Also, I think you should stick it out, but you asked the question, so I'm going to give an answer. I'm about to ETS, but I contacted branch and requested to be sent to a line unit going to Iraq or Afghanistan before I get out. Going to Polk in a month, then Iraq, again. Can't wait.

There's probably not much you can do. When my husband was on his way home from his first tour in Iraq, most of his unit got PCS orders to go to units that would be deploying again soon. A lot of them were supposed to ETS, but they got stop-lossed and went back to Iraq a second time.
When he got home from his second tour, my husband tried to PCS away from here - anywhere - to try to avoid another deployment. The Army won't let him go anywhere. He's leaving later this year for his 3rd deployment to Iraq in less than 5 years.
The Army is getting really good at shuffling soldiers around so that they can stop loss and deploy people. I seriously doubt you can get out of it.

Coward, they should kick guy like you out of the service. Your a disgrace to the uniform. Why? Because real soldiers stick together. Your speculating, you don't even know that your going back to Iraq in that year and your already jumping ship! And also, your haven't even finished your first tour.
hummm lets see 3yr contract, its 2007, and you have 1 year left, that means you signed up 2005. During the height of the fighting. So you didn't know you where going to Iraq? Or did you watched to many movies and its not what you thought and now it's to hard for you?
boo hoo hoo.. You signed that contract, YOU WILL FINISH IT OUT! In jail if you have too.

If your brigade gets stop loss orders, you may be screwed anyway. I was one of the lucky few. I talked to the Rear Detachment Commander and First Sergeant who requested I stayed back for our last tour. I had just done a 12 month tour less than a year ago, and was looking to do another one. I had less than 6 months left. My CPT and 1SG requested to keep me in the Rear D for support until they came back. I was extended, but not in Iraq. I stayed the extra 8 months at my unit in the States. Get in really good graces of your Rear D Commander and 1Sg NOW!

Honestly I understand the feeling -- hubby only had an 8mo turn around between tours (during which time we pcs'd back to the States from Europe).
Speak to your 1SGT (or equivalent),CSM and Commander about being RearD if that happens. However if they say it's a get on the plane or chapter out type of situation then suck it up and drive on. It's not worth a dishonerable discharge.
Best of luck.

There are many jobs on post that you can get,(if you're lucky) that will not deploy. Unfortunately you are probably not of the rank to get any of these.(N.C.O. positions usually.) Rear D is the next best thing, but also unlikely. I have many friends who joined for 3 years right before 9-11. They went to Afghanistan, Iraq and then got stop-loss-ed and went to Iraq again. Point is, you volunteered and should probably should just suck it up.

My ciusin was called up IRR and went(Army Medic). While there, he went Active again. was sent back to the states to a new unit..and promptly deployed again. finished up that tour, and was sent to a third unit. three guesses as to where he is now? yeap, back in the litterbox. third time in three years.
if you are covered under stop loss, it won't matter where you end up.. you will most likely be sent back.

Tell your Platoon Sergeant that he has a nice butt and would like to lick it.
I am sure that will get you out.
