I checked out a few websites including Google and Wikipedia(and some of the links at the bottom of the page) and I couldn't find any conclusive evidence.

Yes, thank you Mr. ed for clarifying my question. I mean Christian in the evangelical sense. I asked a secular board, becasue most Christians rely on hearsay when you are asking them these kinds of things in nominal conversations myself included. I am not implying that the non-evangelical world is 100% intellectual and the evangelical is not. I am only saying from y experience now everybody seems to know that Sam Walton was a Christian, but nobody has a definite source. The internet is always good for sources sometimes.

That's Walton, and I believe he was a Baptist.
Oops, pardon me. He was a Presbyterian.

In North America, everyone who isn't an atheist, a Muslim, a Jew, or some other religion is automatically a Christian - thus, you have the vast majority of the population considered to be Christians. Even many atheists are numbered as "Christians"! Not their fault, they were born that way. It has absolutely nothing to do with their personal beliefs.
On the other hand, Evangelical Christians consider the word "Christian" to apply to someone who has put his personal faith in Christ for his salvation. (In the book of Acts, at a certain point, it says that the disciples of Christ were first called "Christians" at a certain point.)
So when you ask if Sam Walton was a "Christian", most likely he was, socially. Whether he was in the Evangelical definition of the term or not, I don't know.
EDIT:
I have had to change the spelling of the guy's name three times! LOL

Sam Walton gave his employees a bonus for every major holiday including Christmas except for Easter. Since for a Christian Easter is the essential holiday I find it curious that he did not include Easter as a bonus holiday. He certainly made enough money off the holiday. Perhaps he was not a Christian.

He runs a retail business, not a church. Those who stand outside WalMart protesting "Happy Holidays" are just malcontents.
Why should it be his job to promote any certain religion over another? He's there to make a profit by providing goods to the community, which includes people of different faiths...not just Christian.

Sam Walden was indeed a Christian. Sam Walton, however, was the Antichrist.

Yes Sam WALTON was a Christian and when he was alive all stores would start the day off with a prayer with him leading it over a load speaker phone.

Well, this particular site puts him on the board of a Presbyterian Church, but quoted him as saying he is a Methodist.. shrug
Here's the quote and the link:
" He was an active member of the Rotary Club, a member of the board of deacons of the Presbyterian church ("even though I was a Methodist, it worked out real well"), and president of the Chamber of Commerce."
