Gay couples aren't being stopped by not allowing gay marriage.

Allowing it isn't going to turn straight people gay.

There are no reasonable arguments against it.

Some people say "Because gays are gross"... well does allowing gay marriage make them even more gross?

You can't stop gays from being together.

Because right-wingers like to pretend that the only valid reason to have sex is to make babies....and same-gender sex cannot produce babies.

This, despite the millions of right-wingers who have lots of sex (with people they're married to, or OTHER people), with birth control (which prevents babies) and who have abortions when their birth control fails. (And yes, right-wing women DO have abortions.)

IOW, their public stance is anti-pleasure, but they continue to have non-procreative sex as much as they please.

Hypocrites.

There is NOTHING bad about gay marriage. The reason this is happening is for a couple of reasons:
1. Many Christians voted against gay marriage, because they are just "following their beliefs".
2. Gay marriage is "bad" (stereotypical-passed down through time).
3. It is "abnormal"...WTF?
This is the downside of a democracy-the people vote, so the ethical thing may not always come out to be the occurence.
You are completely right in everything you said-there's nothing wrong with being gay, they're definitely not gross, and there's nothing wrong with gay marriage. (A side-note: Most gays are born homosexual-it's a genetic thing.)

I have no idea whatsoever. Apparently, a lot of people's worlds are so precariously balanced that ideas like gay marriage threaten to destroy their whole world quicker than one of the 3 little pigs' houses.

Actually, what real business is it of mine WHAT the couple next door is doing within the privacy of their own home? And how is "blessing" their relationship going to alter my world?

Apparently, married hetero Christian couples have perfected the union of marriage to the point that divorces are somehow significantly decreasing?????

I think EVERYBODY needs to take 3 deep breaths, take one big giant step backwards and get the fak OVER themselves; especially the far-right fundies.

The world is NOT going to Hell in a handbasket because of gays and the concept of gay marriage.

If everyone exhibited a little more love, a little more mutual tolerance for each others' differences, and a little more personal honesty and integrity, the world would be a far better place.

And when it comes to honesty and integrity, the spiritual and political fundies have got one helluva lot of housekeeping to do before it goes around trying to remove the splinter from someone else's eye!!!

There are a million and one statistics supporting the idea that allowing gay marriage will NOT cause more people to be gay. So I agree with you, that point is ridiculous.

Seeing as we are living in a democratic, free society, two people should be allowed to enter into the legal contract of marriage if they wish -- legally, marriage is just a binding contract between two people which allows them certain benefits in regards to insurance, making medical decisions on the behalf of their spouse, and several other things.

Certainly, many people see marriage as more than that, as a gift from God. However, we live in a religiously free society so the idea of God shouldn't factor into our legislation. It shouldn't, but it does.

There's really no reason to ban gay marriage except for people's hatred and bigotry.

Having marriage is a serious commitment which couple have to comply with. Now, in gay marriage is not totally bad or gross, its with the invidual on how they interpret it. Gay marriage is putting gay couple into a more serious life. I guess there is no reason to call it gross!

I agree w/U, what does it matter to me what YOU do with your life! I dont care who anyone marries! That has absolutely no affect on my life...And there are couples (man & woman) who marry everyday and they were never ment to be with each other! For instance b/c of $$$, kids, they feel stuck with each other b/c they've been together for a long time, thier parents basically made them, and sooo on. SO if 2 men want to marry each other and they truely love each other, then so be it!!! If they can not marrie just cuz they both have balls, then they really need to analyze the true reasoning for marriage.

You are correct in saying that being married won't make homosexuality more or less gross. Nothing could make it more or less gross. It is what it is.

But to answer your question about what's so bad about it, or why shouldn't our country allow/sanction/legitimize it.... here goes, and I think you may have heard this one before.

God doesn't like it, and He doesn't like it when a country as a whole accepts things He doesn't like. Now, I fully understand that you don't believe that God exists, so I don't expect for you to make a stand based on His bible. But you need to understand that I do believe He exists, and that He is who He says He is in His bible.

Since we do live in a country with freedom OF religion (not freedom FROM religion as some think it it), we are each free to base our political (voting...) positions on whichever religion or lack of religion that we wish.

Apparently, it somehow threatens "The Family." You're right, there are no good arguments against it. And as for those who like to talk about the "sanctity of the covenant of marriage," here's two words: Brittany Spears.

the only thing that is wrong with it is in the eyes of a group of people that find fault in everybody but themselves.

Marriage is a religious institution, and therefore that government should not be regulating it beyond keeping records for secular legal reasons.

Because God calls homosexuality an abomination. People may not believe God now- but at the end of all things- they will know He was the truth.
