With expensive theme parks and shopping as among the more popular attractions, there aren't too many free things to do in L.A.

The state-owned beaches are always free, of course.

The Getty Center is technically free, but parking is $8.00. Still, it is well worth a visit.

Most other museums have free days or hours. The Norton Simon Museum is free on the first Friday of every month (6-9 PM). LA Natural History Museum on the first Tuesday of every month. LA County Museum of Art is free after 5 PM.

Walking around Hollywood Blvd, the Sunset Strip, and Santa Monica Blvd is free (if you don't go to a club). Those areas are very lively.

One of the most interesting things you can do for free is see a sit-com, game show, or talk show being taped. The Price is RIght, Jeopardy, The War at Home, George Lopez, Jay Leno, and Bill Maher are among the offerings:

You might have better luck looking in Ventura or San Diego.
