In ancient times, the early Christians took the fish as a symbol because Jesus had mentioned making his followers "fishers of men" It was only after His death and ressurection that Christians adopted the symbol of the cross.

Biblically speaking, there are no symbols of faith for a Christian.Traditionally speaking,the fish and cross symbols.

Typically a cross, or a fish.
The cross symbolizes Jesus dying on the cross, and the fish dates back to when it was illegal to be a Christian(in Rome). They would draw one of the lines of the fish, and if the other person was a Christian he would draw the other line.

True Christian has no symbol for G_D clearly states to worship no idol nor other god, not ones of wood, metal, etc.
Wish more would wake up to what is right in front of them instead of just following the herd. Cause a cross is an idol, just as G_D said not to worship.

the cross would indicate the faith and beleif. the fish identifies a person as being a christian.

Well I don't think their is an 'official' symbol used in the church.
I know their is the cross, fish, sheep.
