There are bath sprays you can use in between his baths to freshen him up some. You just spray them on and wipe him off with a dry towel. We us it with my wolf hybrid since she hates a bath and is white. She requires 2 Valiums just for a bath, so we opted not to water bathe her. She doesn't need to be medicated any more which is better for her health at 11yr and 9 months old. Wal Mart sells one, but I don't know the name of it. I saw it there the other day while in the one where I live in WV. We have even used the sprays on my cats when they get the smell of car grease on them.
There's no reason for the attitude of some of the answers I've seen towards you on how oftem you bathe you dog. We never bathe in the winter, only in the late spring, summer and early fall. Once the weather is below 60 degrees it's not safe and I don't need a dog with a cold. I live in the mountains and it can be 80 in the day and 40 at night during the summer even. Last week it was in the upper 60's and lower 70's, Friday and Saturday we got 8" of snow and in the 20's.
Don't worry about what others think, do what is right for your dog.

Check in the pet section of your store. There is a powder that you can rub into their coat and then brush out. This cleans between shampoos and will make the dog smell better. We use it in the winter so the dog does not get a cold running around with wet fur..
Personally I do not think you should have a pet if you do not want to spend money on it. You feel you have to put your money to good use?? Give the pet to someone who will love it and think spending money on the pet IS A GOOD USE of their money...

A "quick fix" for the in between bath times is to rub a dryer sheet over the fur. The scent will mask the odor. If the animal is soiled, use baby wipes to cleanse the fur. Nothing is going to substitute a good bath, but I have to wonder why you don't put the guy in your tub and wash him yourself.

You can get special doggie deodorant and wipes from most big pet shops. i use them on mine as its not good for dogs to have baths too often and they get stinky so quickly!
A bath once a month is plenty for a dog, the other people on here who suggest it must be out of their minds!! They are not babies!! Dogs arent meant to be bathed that often! unless u show your dog there is no need! as i said bathing a dog too often isnt good for them they are meant for it!
However if its really bad or hes rolled in something nasty u should just bath him.
Its up to u if u pay for it or do it yourself as long as it gets done u are still showing responsibility for him.

Have you noticed him scooting on his rear end? That would be a sign of his anal glands needing to be expressed and that would cause a bad odor. Your groomer or a vet could take care of that for you if that's the case. It costs about 10 bucks at my vet. It might be different where you are, but if you've seen him scooting, it's very likely that's the problem.

There are a few things you can do. One thing you can do is buy a no rinse doggie shampoo. It is easy to use and it smells good. Another thing you can do is buy some doggie wipes and wipe him down. You could also use baby wipes if you have those available. They work just as well. In fact I don't have kids but I will buy baby wipes to use on my Cocker Spaniel for when she gets a little stinky.

Good lord all the haters on here today!
Ok, I see where you're going with this....he stinks NOW and you dont want to give him a bath NOW, when he's going to the groomer LATER....
Do you have any cornstarch? For real, cornstarch---put some on your dog, kinda massage it into his coat (do this outside) and then brush brush brush it out....Instant stink remover. Don't use anything BUT cornstarch.
