My dog (a young beagle) is a little monster. He is actually a very sweet dog (he LOVES to be around people and be petted) but I cant even begin to explain how wild he is. I know its just his nature, but he is very frustrating for my family. He is always jumping up, chewing and nibbling on us (and the furniture, even the corners of walls) and has very high energy. This is after being very strict with him about not jumping and chewing. He also has a problem with eating EVERYTHING that comes into his path. He will eat rocks, pine cones, fuzz, ANYTHING. We feed him enough so he cant be hungry. We think getting an older, bigger dog (who has been socialized) might help him become more tame and calm, but is there anything else we can do, besides walking him excessively? Its a terror to walk him as well.

He needs ALOT of exercise and he needs to be trained. Getting a 2nd dog when you have already a dog that is misbehaving isn't a good idea. People tend to think a good dog will fix up their dog, but it just doesn't work that way. Train your dog first, then consider adding a 2nd.. Or else you'll have 2 wild dogs...

How old is he? Beagles in general are very active dogs, and puppies especially are hyper. Chewing on everything in sight is normal, as long as he doesn't hurt people. And being strict with a dog isn't the same as being strict with a person. Dogs forget instructions soon and start getting into trouble again.

Getting an older dog might help. I have a 7-month old puppy and a 6-year old dog and they get along great. The puppy is always goading my dog into play-fighting with her. However, my dog hasn't stopped my puppy from chewing on things. On the contrary, they like to chew on things together; it's how they bond. Also, they team together sometimes and my older dog digs huge holes in the back yard and then the puppy gets in to dig the spots my older dog couldn't fit in.

Try just getting more chew toys.

walking around the living house isn't a difficulty, do in simple terms not enable him run and bounce = crating him ought to help right here, yet on condition that he doesn't panic even as crated. attempt getting him a crate large sufficient to face and turn round in, placed his blankets and toys and a chewie in it and see if he will cool down. If no longer, perchance a touch one gate to shop him partly of the living house the position he doesn't see each of the visual attraction and going ought to help. happy you're transforming into him treated - really ordinary to prevent, i do not realize why people do not provide the heartworm preventative month-to-month. The time-honored varieties expenditures some money and makes the enormous difference between getting heartworm and under no circumstances. strong success, the medical care isn't as undesirable because it replaced into, pretty if the infestation isn't some distance progressed yet.

sounds to me like he is a spoiled brat , i know those little beagle dogs are very high energy , does he get enough exercise , how old is he , also watch his dog food , if it is to rich a food designed for active dog youo may have to switch , do you have a big outdoor kennel for him to go in when it is nice outside , that does wonders for a dog , especially if he is in the house all the time .

Exercise him: a run in the backyard, teach him to fetch so that you can play with him, agility, or do obedience training (mental stimulation is just as tiring for them as running around).
