I've been eating this cereal all my life and the most recent box I purchased tastes terrible! The cereal is totally different in that it's very light and looks different also. (same shape but seems to have a lighter texture) It's NOT a change for the better. Anyone know why they did this?

According to wiki:
"Recently, "Bran Blend", defined as whole grain corn flour and corn bran, has been added to the ingredient list. This addition has also coincided with a near-tripling of the fiber content shown on the nutrition label (from originally about 1g to 3g per serving) and the inclusion of Honeycomb cereal in Kraft's Sensible Solution program.

Aficionados of Honeycomb cereal were able to immediately taste the difference. Post has registered many calls of complaints from Honeycomb fans since the change. It remains to be seen whether this new form of the time-tested cereal will continue to sell well with the cereal eating public."

It s not just the bran blend, they changed the proportion of the ingredients. Oat flour used to be first, followed by corn flour. Now it s the other way around, which is the real reason it tastes lighter. Up until last year, you could still get the original in Canada, but we just got a new box last week, and alas, it s now the same as the US product except that they use sugar instead of High Fructose Corn Syrup.

A lot of cereal makers are feeling pressure to make their cereals healthier, because of the child obesity epidemic. that's most likely what changed in Honeycombs...it's healthier so it doesn't taste as good anymore!

Yes i know the answer to this question. You see most large corporagions have a board or members that try to make things better. Well as you have seen they were wrong. As most things that are done by a comitee always are. Did they improve it ...No. its the old rule if it is not broke dont fix it. But when it comes to a group of people they allways try to fix what is not broken and really screw it up..Sure makes me mad
