Hi !!!
Here you go...From baking911.com...

Is it icing or frosting ? It is both because they mean the same thing and you can use the word interchangeably. By some, icing is considered to be a more professional term used when talking about frosting that is stiffer and pipes well. Frosting is considered homespun or creamier and softer. But, viewpoints can vary.

-------AND, AS FOR SOME RECIPES...

Chocolate-Cinnamon Buttercream Frosting

This homemade frosting has the richness of butter and the unexpected twist of cinnamon to add flavor depth to the chocolate. It makes enough to frost an 8- or 9-inch layer cake or a 13x9-inch sheet cake. Try it on chocolate, yellow or white cake.

Makes 24 (2-tablespoon) servings.
Prep Time: 10 minutes

1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1 teaspoon McCormick® Pure Vanilla Extract
3 ounces (3 squares) unsweetened baking chocolate, melted
4 teaspoons McCormick® Ground Cinnamon
1 box (16 ounces) confectioners' sugar, sifted
4 tablespoons milk

1. Beat butter in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and melted chocolate; mix well.
2. Stir cinnamon into sifted sugar. Gradually add to butter mixture, beating until well blended after each addition, frequently scraping sides and bottom of bowl.
3. Add milk; beat until light and fluffy. If frosting is too thick to spread, gradually beat in additional milk. Store in refrigerator up to 2 weeks. Rewhip before using.

------------AND...

Magnolia's Bakery Buttercream Frosting

1 cup unsalted butter, very soft
8 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla

To make the icing - place the butter in a large mixing bowl.
Add 4 cups of the sugar and then the milk and vanilla.
Beat until smooth and creamy.
Gradually add the remaining sugar, 1 cup at a time, until icing is thick enough to be of good spreading consistency (you may very well not need all of the sugar).
If desired, add a few drops of food coloring and mix thoroughly.
Use and store icing at room temperature, as icing will set if chilled.
Can store in an airtight container for up to three days.

-----------AND, LASTLY A COCONUT CREAM FROSTING...

Coconut Rum Cream Cheese Frosting

15 servings
5 min 5 min prep

2 (8 ounce) cartons philadelphia brand whipped cream cheese (16 ounces total)
1 (8 1/2 ounce) can cream of coconut (Coco Lopez)
1 cup shredded sweetened coconut
1/4 teaspoon butter flavoring
1/2 teaspoon rum extract

Mix all together with a spoon & spread over cooled cake.
Refrigerate leftovers (if you're lucky enough to have any leftovers). Just gets better as it sits.
Note: I used the cartons of already whipped cream cheese as that's what I had on hand. Probably, (2) 8 oz. blocks whipped would work just as well.

There is a big difference between frosting and icing. Frosting is thick and holds shapes like rosettes and shells like those you see piped around the edges of a birthday cake. It remains soft to the touch and has a creamy texture, and most people think it tastes better because of the creamy buttery flavor. Icing, on the other hand, is a thinner, more liquid substance, and as it dries it thins out, becomes very smooth across the surface of your cookie, and hardens. This is the icing to use for the most beautiful, professional results.

frosting is the stuff over the cake and sometimes pictures like flowers and balloons. Icing is thinner, more clear, comes in colors like red and blue, while frosting is generally white or brown. Icing is for writing stuff on the cake, but technically it's on the FROSTING which is on the cake. ^-^'

Frosting is flothy and white and doesn't get hard. Easy to spread. Main ingredient is fat.......Icing is made mostly from sugar. It gets hard after being spread. It is not frothy. So, one has a lot of fat and one has a lot of sugar. Both are evil...lol
