I am starting up a dogs kennel where most dog will stay in my home.I may also do a cattery later on.

HI :) I live in Germany and we have some kennels for our jack russells - can i give you some advice that i wish we had taken....when you build the kennels make the floor at a slight gradient so water runs away form the dogs area into a long main drain. We didnt and the floors always flippin wet so i have to get a towel and then dry the whole thing - gah! - drives me NUTS.
As for the name of the kennels make sure its search engine friendly - the locals who will use you the most for instance may all be french speaking only so think of what they will type in google or french yellow pages - something like - dog boarding in Chervil ( i made that up can you tell!) . so choose a name simple and to the point like - Chervil Dog Kennel ( but in french!) ......you will get twice as many customers if your EASY TO FIND ON YAHOO / GOOGLE....i know for experience - we sell animal feeds - we should have called ourselves - the horse feed shop :) MUCH better yahoo and google positioning too :)

The advice about the slanted floor is an excellant idea, if you use a tiled floor with a drain running along it you can hose the kennel down then squeegee the water out.
Another thing i find cool in my dogs kennels is that they have a webcam and you can log onto your pet whilst on holiday to see how they are. Generally my dog is out in the run or on a walk though.

You can always replace "river" with rover, so if there are any popular places with river in the name you can play off that.
You can also use bark - like Bed and Barkfest. There are also simple names like Doggie Daycare, Camp Canine, etc.
