Open Office is an office suite offered by Sun Microsystems, who also makes Java. Sun has been around almost as long as Microsoft, so I'd have to say Yes, It's safe to download and use.

Hi,

Absolutely! It is a well known and popular free substitute for Microsoft office. It contains no spyware or adware. It is one of the best free programs going. Be sure to get it from the Open Office site.

It is absolutely safe. We use it our small business and my daughter uses it at college. It's free and totally compatible with MS Office. Open office allows you to create/open/edit/save documents in either the MS office formats or the open office format.

It works very well and we have no problems with it. We email documents to our clients and they can't tell that we are not using MS Office.
