It's generally considered not best to leave children under 12 alone unsupervised. However, the presence of two 14yo's probably nullifys this. It rather depends how long you intend to be away for. If it's an evening then it might be wise to get a babysitter, to supervise the 14yos if nothing else. If it's just an hour or so then I wouldn't worry.

No I would get an older baby sitter. The 14 year old sister will probably be too interested in her boyfriend and just show off infront of him teasing her baby brother.

Hmmm...My Mother had me watching my younger Brother and sister (8 years younger) since I was 13 years old...
I believe I was very responsible, although my Mother never allowed me to have anyone else in the house while I was babysitting...
I can honestly tell you that at that age, if my Mother would have allowed me to stay at home ALONE with a BOYFRIEND while I was watching my brother and sister, not much watching would have been done...
A teen age girl, at that age doesn't want to be playing and entertaining her 8 year old brother while her Boyfriend is there.
So, I say...either let her stay with NO boyfriend, or get a Babysitter...

i have an 8yr old and a 14yr old and leave the youngest with him on a sat night whilst i have a night out in the local with no problems if they're responsible enough then they're old enough i do however have 2 older children 16yrs and 20 yrs so if i want to go out a bit further away i get one of them to stay in, in past experience with getting babysitters in when there's a 14yr old in the house it caused conflict over responsibility and territory which resulted in arguments when i got home. i always have my mobile phone on me so if they do need me at any time they can get hold of me easily and i constantly ring them to check on them and speak to the youngest to make sure he's ok. i'd suggest a trial run if there's a local pub not far from you just pop there for a couple of hours and see how she gets on. just to put the record straight it is not illigal for one of your own at 14 to babysit i looked into that one a couple of yrs ago i rang the local police station who asked my other son a few questions abt safety etc and was given the ok over the phone hope this helps you

maybe not with her and her boyfriend, might suggest she get a friend up instead, but yeah don't see why not if you feel confident that she is mature and responsible enough.
Try leaving them while you nip to the shops for half an hour, then extend the time to see how you feel about it if you are unsure.
Make sure you leave a contact number for where you are going.

you be attentive to, as lengthy because of the fact the older baby isn't any sort of pedophle, i does no longer have a project with it...He maynot have any acquaintances his age because of the fact he's " a geek" or what ever little ones lable some one which's no longer upto their appropriate standards... The 8 yo could have some one to look as much as, and talk approximately his "problems" with, and the older baby is having something he never did, admire, and feeling great that some one seems as much as him... I even have countless acquaintances that a a splash youthful than me...And particularly abit that are alot older than me...while i replace into 8, I didnt get alongside with the youngsters my age, we did no longer stay that on the fringe of anybody yet in college they picked on me...and that i began out to "look after" the greater youthful young little ones.. I hate a bully, and any guy or woman who messed with the lil young little ones had to respond to to me...yet because of the fact of my habit, being so formidable, and clever, " i replace into nerd" that the older young little ones kinda, took me in.. I do ought to declare that, via this, i partied alot lesss. nicely rather never, and that i had a number of the main suitable grades in my type....merely save a watch on issues...the youngster may be an old baby additionally, wanting a youthful sibling...???? examine out the situation and spot how issues are... As for speaking at the same time with your sister, the subsequent time you're chatting point out that your son has stated this different baby lots and you sense a splash uncomfortable with him being around some one which is two times his age...Ask your sister approximately him....she would be in a position to't be dissatisfied at you, on account this is making you a sturdy mom, and any sturdy mom who's worried for their baby might question something that did no longer sense suited.....

I would get a babysitter, my son is 16 but he is very half baked if you know what I mean!!
So I would feel better knowing my children are with someone who could deal with a emergency. If you child is mature and you can think of the worse situation and imagine how she would cope then make your decision based on your answer.

It depends on the 14 year old. Some are very reliable, others are not. If she has experience, I would say it is okay. But having her boyfriend there is not so smart.
