If you don't love money, then why have it? Surely you can move to Alaska and live in a cave if you are a strict follower of the scripture. Why do you have a computer, a car, furniture, and indoor plumbing that you pay for with money? None of these luxuries were available to the writers of the Bible, so why do you have them unless you are in love with your luxuries, and thus you love money?

i agree whole heartedly to your statement. in the greek this is the love (4 kinds of love) of greed/can't get enough! so this would read "the greed for wealth and gian is the root of all evil!"

Gosh, Steve.....after watching all of the chaos in my personal life that had to do with money, it's actually hard to see fine distinctions anymore. I was much happier living in a $250 apartment with just a beat up car......it's craziness...

The priests who misquoted it wanted the money, so they told the peasants it was bad, and the church would make it ok, if they just gave it to the church to hold...
