I am making a pie with cream cheese and ricotta cheese?Also the crust calls for one.

You can use a simple hand mixer.Just start out on low speed and then increase speed when the mixture starts to blend or you'll have cheese etc. everywhere.
If your blender is strong enough to handle the cream cheese by all means use it.The hand mixer would be best.

A blender will not work for pie crust. Use a recipe that calls for mixing the shortening and flour with a fork. Try www.allrecipes.com

just mix up the crust by hand

my last food processor cost $4 at a thrift store

Of course. Just blend it with a spatula or a whisk more like. Works just the same, and better if you ask me. Not as complicated as the cleaning of the blender.

Yes, but you might have to mix it in batches. A blender is smaller and might not hold all the mixture all at once. Sounds delicious...Yum for the Tum......
