Were all their visions simply a hallucinogenic effect from ingesting substances that today we have identified as "drugs", but back then they were unaware of their hallucinogenic qualities? We know for a fact that many "feel good" drugs were readily available and were in common use.

This is the most likely scenario.
Moses and his peoples diets consisted mostly of a hallucinogenic plant.....go figure! ; )

Anybody that would write in a book about some guy feeding 5000 people with a loaf of bread and a couple of fish had to be tripping HARD! Come on, mass hallucinations were rampant!

Had to be some great stuff too. However, watch out, the blue acid is bad, the brown acid is good!

It wasn't just drugs there were on it was a power trip as well
