Okay, so last summer I had surgery on my leg, and now every once in a while since then I have had days where my leg hurts or is sore, and I took the Oxycodone tablets to help stop the pain, and it worked. Now I am running low on them, and I will need to get some more, since I have these days of pain "twinges" in my legs.
Will this work to get more?

You probably don't need more oxy for this type of pain. Have you tried other over the counter pain relievers? If you have and they aren't working then talk to your doc about something stronger - but there are many perscription pain meds you could take. The oxycontin isn't for long term use - too many bad side effects. Tramadol, Codeine, or Ultracet are all options.

i've got been taking Oxycodone, hydrocodone, and Oxycontin for years via a cervical backbone harm. What you are able to desire to notice of is the Tylenol this is in medicine like loratabs, loracet, vicodin. that's what does the wear on your liver. The counseled max dose for Tylenol is 3,000 mg in keeping with day meaning except you're taking 6 loratabs or vicodin's an afternoon you will no longer have any problems. don't be afraid to take the discomfort medicine to assist administration the discomfort yet do in no way get to the factor which you're taking greater suitable than your scientific professional recommends. this is how people boost a project, no longer with the help of utilising it as directed. often while you're taking medicine with tylenol in it your scientific professional will order a blood try so which you would be able to guarantee your liver applications are ok. so some distance as being addicted your scientific professional will wean you off the drugs while he feels it rather is time. In California you sign a 'contract for Narcotics' which advises you of the end results of abusing the drugs and placed the duty of utilising it properly on you. sturdy success and dangle in there.

First of all, for the answerer above, Oxycodone is not JUST in Oxycontin... it's also in Percolone, Roxycodone, Percocet, Oxy IR, etc. It's very commonly given after suregery.
As for your pain, you do not just have to learn to live with it. If you're still having pain, talk to your doc about seeing a pain management specialist. They may not give you narcotics, but there are many different modalities to take care of your pain. You have a right to a pain-free life. HOWEVER, if you're just trying to get more of the Oxycodone and not trying to actually deal with the pain in whatever way the doctor feels is appropriate, I think you need to explore what the real problem is.... the pain or something else. The doctor may or may not give you more of it. It will depend on if he thinks the pain is real and serious enough to warrant more of the narcotic or if he feels you are drug-seeking.

Honestly, I'm surprised your doc gave you Oxycontin, even after foot surgery. I live in NYS and Oxycontin is usually saved for cancer patients or people who have had multiple surgery's and debilitating diseases. Lortabs is usually what they give out after surgery. I had a c-section and was given Lortabs, and became really addicted to them. I have nerve damage in my back and bursitis in my knees, and am always in pain, and now have to be very careful about what I take. Oxycontins are far more powerful Lortabs. I would be careful. If your really in pain, talk to your doctor about Lortabs to manage, and then bring it down to Darvocets (a weaker pain med). Because even if you are taking them as prescribed, you can still become addicted. And "twinges" of pain shouldn't require something as strong as Oxycontin. Just Darvocets may even be enough for you. Just be careful to use them as directed and not take them for a long time.

Sounds like some kind of withdrawal from the drug. I think your body is telling your mind via leg pain that you need the drug. You should talk to your Dr.

No, are you sure you need it for pain? Sounds like there's more to the story. Use Ibuprofen or Tylenol for your "twinges", and it wouldn't be in both legs, just the one you had surgery on.
