I'm trying to install a game on my new laptop with VISTA. It wont let me type in the " : "(colon?) on the run menu.

Open My Computer
right-click on the drive (probably D:)
select Properties
you will see a tab for "autoplay"
select it
make your choice

My Computer> (drive you have disk in) -- doubleclick the drive containing the disk, and if something called AutoRun isn't listed, then the disk will not start up on its own. However, you can just install it the normal way without going through the Run menu by clicking on the install file.

you need to click on browse so you'll know the exact name of the .exe file that starts the installation.. Of course, most puters have autorun set so the disc should start without any input from you.
