You'll generally find them with packaged shelled nuts and/or in the health food section.

The over salted preserved ones can be found where the nuts and raisins are. To get good fresh, raw or roasted sunflower seeds, you would likely need a Whole Foods or health food store. I sprout them (can only do that with raw ones)-easy and yummy

Sunflower seeds are usually sold in the candy and nuts isle. If your store doesnt have that, try the chips and soda isle.

Sunflower seeds in the shell, are considered a "salty snack." You will find them by the popcorn and beef jerky, which are usually near the chips.

Around here, sunflower seeds are in the same aisle (and right alongside) the peanuts (and other nuts) and popcorn.

The snack isle, the health food isle (you know the area where they have organic foods), and possibly it could be in the baking section.
