I know several atheists who intuitively understand the logical impossibility of the existance of deity and who cannot read, or spell or balance their checkbook.

Thank you for the crash course in logic skyhawk, I am obviously not an intelligent atheist.

My point is that many adherents have suggested that the undereducated and otherwise challenged individuals are duped by atheism instead of having a "gut-felling" concerning the veracity of atheist arguments.
(Sigh) Adherents to religious belief-systems....?

that is an assumption I have never made... the simplest mind can choose to believe either way, possibly you just hear more from those that want to be perceived as highly intellectual, who knows... who cares?

I don’t know about that. Some of the greatest scientists refer to themselves as agnostic. In other words, they have enough humility to admit that they may not know everything. Stephen Jay Gould is an example of a brilliant Darwinian scholar with enough humility to call himself agnostic, to admit that religion and science can co-exist.

Those that are atheist are far more arrogant. They are certain there is no God and in saying so come close to implying that they are the highest level of intelligence. They are gods. Dawkins fits into this category.

Just remember that intelligence and wisdom are not synonymous. One must know God to have wisdom.

Some atheists are exceptionally intelligent--as are some Christians. Some of each are also 8th grade drop-outs. This holds true for every belief in life - not just for one.

Adherents to what?

I pointed out an error in the online MENSA test and they never got back to me (because they were cowed by my immense intellect, natch), I don't even have a chequebook, and I can't spell for toffee, but I don't see what any of this has to do with my spiritual beliefs.

Many "intelligent" people tend to overlook the simple ways of life, thats probably why they dont believe in God. They most likely want to fnd a complicated way -_-" no, they are not all smart.

I beleive, that they belive they are . An intelligent bunch, and are geniuses. Which i find ,isn't so. because they can not even answer any common sense questions,
or give any common sense answers.
They belive they have no belief. yet they beleive in what they believe.
So therefor, they have a belief. but don't even know what it is. Or what purpose its serves.

Genius is not proved by speaking or reading. Most Autistic children are genius. Reading and spelling are learned. Genius just is. Most educated people have the knowledge to understand fact from fiction.

Single occurrences do not prove/dis-prove facts.
On the whole, atheists are substantially more intelligent than the religious. It has been shown in studies over and over.

There is nothing higher than human intelligence...if you believe there is no God.

And I read your question about adherents ASSUMING they ARE intelligent.

Probably because studies have shown that, in general, lack of religion correlates with more education, which tends to be the more intelligent portion of the population.
