It depends on the context. Nervum could mean any of the following:sinew/muscle/nerve; hamstring; tendon (as material); stringed instrument (pl.);strength; vigor, nerve, force, power; sexual power, virility; penis (rude);
string/cord; bowstring; bow; (leather) thong; fetter (for prisoner); prison.

rerum gerendarum relates to the way things are run.

I would suggest as a translation: "the nerve centre of power".
