Hi there. All bleeding stops. The bird will be fine. Some people dip the nail in corn meal, some use baking soda and others buy stipend. All work well. I'm sure things have settled by now. Have a great week. With all this experience, you can help people with clipping questions. Chaos will get over it. Show him the clippers and give him a treat so that he doesn't behave in a way that makes this grooming chore difficult.

Styptic powder. You should always have some on hand when you are cutting the nails of any animal. The styptic powder stops the bleeding and allows the quick to heal faster.

DO NOT RAP MAKE PAPER TOWELS SOAK UP THE BLOOD!!!!! Dip the nail in flour, it's like stypic powder which helps stop the bleeding. The next time you cut his or her nails, go buy some stypic powder of gel; the both help equaly.

Get some flour or baking soda and apply it to the nail. There is special birdy styptic (sp?) power you should ALWAYS have on hand whenever attempting to trim a bird's nail. You must stop the bleeding RIGHT NOW! Little birds don't have much blood and can bleed to death quickly.

well, get a mosquito repellent burner ( green in colour and curl in round ). Burn the wound in a fast action and it will stop the bleeding. Method retrieved from a book about bird. No harm to try.

Stick his foot in a plate of flour or corn meal. (Seriously- trust me.)
For the future keep styptic powder on hand in case this happens. But now you should know how far to go so it won't happen again!

The people telling you to get stypic powder are correct.
And yes, until then, use flour and a cloth bandage. You will have to towel your bird to keep him still.
