i have to mentor a kid younger than me that plays trumpet like i do. i am in 9th grade and he/she is either going to be in 6th-8th. what are some things i should go over with him/her? it'll be kinda like me giving lessons. i dont know where to begin teaching him/her.

If you know some good ways to tune the trumpet or good warm-up exercises, start by doing those together. You could also pick a song that both of you like (or even a duet) and work on it together. Make the experience fun for both of you. Good luck!

Yes you do. Grow up and take the bull by the horns. This is a good learning experience for you. Someday you may have children of your own. Learn how to deal with them. Perhaps your teachers can give you some advise.
