My boyfriend is 29, soon to be 30 this summer, and I'll be 22 at the end of the year. Just curious about what people think about age differences and how much is too much?

For 21, I consider myself mature. After having a baby last year and dealing with the deadbeat dad who had nothing going for him, it's nice to have a guy that has his life together. He owns his own business, has a car and rents a house while he's trying to save to buy one. My parents were 8 years apart and my aunt and uncle are 12 so I don't think it's that big of a deal but some people look at me funny when I tell them. He's great to me and my son, so why shouldn't I date him?

Age is a number, it's all about maturity. I'm 2.5 years older than my boyfriend, I just turned 22, he'll be 20 in August. I've always dated older guys, as much as 10 years older, thinking that they would be more mature...not the case. Surprisingly, my current boyfriend is the most mature guy I've dated(he was only 18 when we started dating!). My only concern would be for the long run...if this is a guy you plan on getting serious with, you need to make sure your want and timeframe for marriage, kids, careers and everything fits together. If he's 30 and wants those things, he may be seeing that in the near future while at 22 you may not be yet or even the other way around! Be straightforward and make sure you're on the same page and don't let anybody tell you there's too much of an age difference!

How much is too much? Well, there really is no magic number, and even while people can offer your opinion don't listen. There is no age limit on love and partnership. If you are happy then that is all that matters. Does he have a job? Does he make you feel good? Does he take care of himself, and not depend on you to take care of him? These are the things that you should concern yourself with. The age difference is not an issue.

When I look at how much society, technology,
rules and regulations, the arts, etc.
have changed in only
10 years, I have to wonder. That's the
difference, and she is younger. I'm
middle 40's and live in the United States
Of America. I've always lived here,
and I'm what's known as a Western
European Man.

Now you know none of that stuff matters,
so why tell it right?(yuk, yuk, yuk).

That seems totally fine to me. I think what matters is not the age, just how you get along in general. My boyfriend is 17 and I'm 20.

bf is 4 years older. I don't think you and your bf have much age difference. And i don't think age should be an issue, for as long as you understand each other and you love each other. Too much i think is if your bf is about the age of your father.....can you imagine him calling your dad, dad? or can you imagine your dad (in the event that you get married) addressing him as his "son in law"? if they have the same age? awkward, right?

I'm 6 years older than her. True love has no age limits, but there can be a generation gap.
