Social anxiety can cause these feelings, which can also lead to severe depression,
http://www.socialanxietyinstitute.org/ds...

if not you could be suffering from Generalized Anxiety
Disorder..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/general_anx...

There is hope; I've been there, and still am there, it is a long, hard struggle. I recommend
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/cognitive_b... worked best for me, with mild anti-anxiety meds. I suffered from social anxiety for over 15 years. I've tried individual therapy, and group therapy and studied psychology for 10 years, as a profession, but also with the hope to cure myself.

Depending on your comfort level, you could go to a psychologist that practices CBT and specializes in anxiety disorders, seek a group therapy, or create one. Usually those that do attend the group therapy are a bit more high functioning because as you know, it can be difficult to speak in a group.

Another idea is to see if there are any local research studies being conducted that you could participate in.

The program that finally worked the best for me is this one: http://www.socialanxiety.us/findinghelp.... and I was lucky enough to have a structured behavioral group to go along with it. Sometimes the people that actually attend this program come back home and form groups.

I recommend a mild anti-anxiety med in addition to CBT therapy.

Any questions, let me know ... I can't tell you how much this has improved my life!

Have you seen a doctor to rule out a physical problem? There are medications an MD can prescribe for anxiety if that's the cause. OTOH, you want to rule out other causes like low blood sugar.

I'm not sure that medical science really knows if anxiety is caused by a chemical imbalance in the body, or by emotions. It could be that the emotions cause the imbalance. Kind of like the chicken and the egg, which came first :-)

If anxiety has become this much of a problem for you, perhaps you should see a counselor to see if there's a psychological cause for your anxiety. Counseling and medication together would be a good combination. If nothing else, counseling might help deal with the frustration and fear, most people would have, over having anxiety attacks.

You're not alone. I had anxiety attacks for a few months following a bad case of pneumonia. I'd nearly died and just breathing had become so stressful that I felt panicky. I'd suddenly feel panicky when there was absolutely nothing wrong. My doctor prescribed a medication to take when I felt anxious and within a year the problem resolved itself. Go get help, because there's no reason to live that way if you don't have to! It's no way to live and there is help out there. Good luck.

first of all, sure those sound like panic assaults or rigidity assaults. the drugs Zoloft is an anti-deppresant and could no longer assist you. you prefer some thing for rigidity like Zanax or colonopin. i think it only relies upon on you. if your assaults r no longer that favourite, you will possibly escape with Zanax. It takes 5 minutes to artwork yet in basic terms keeps to be on your physique 4 hours. Colonopin takes approximately 20 minutes to artwork yet stay on your physique 12 hours. I certainly have been on a ton of anti- deppresants and anti- rigidity meds. as quickly as I used to artwork, one time the vice-president got here in and that i locked myself interior the bathing room at artwork reason i could no longer take it. i became sweating, coronary heart racing, nausiated and to no longer be gross yet felt like i had to apply the bathing room without warning. it incredibly is while my checklist positioned my on colonopin an he keeps it in my equipment in any respect circumstances so this wont ensue returned. yet first i'd desire to tell you colonopin is quite addictive. it works ok yet you're able to desire to think of approximately it. i could no longer stay functional that anymore. None people wanna be on meds yet now and returned u gotta do what you gotta do, specifically if it impacts your interest! desire that helped!

yes, it happens a lot. Mainly from hyperventilation (you may not even realize that you are doing this) but occasionally from a fast heart rate as well.
