God's plan is general, free will is specific.
If God's plan decides you aren't very bright and YOUR free will decides to make you a thief or robber or criminal that is your doing. All GOD did was decide you were a dullard.
If God's will decides you are brilliant you decide God doens't exist then you become an Athiest Scientist
The Atheist part is free will
The Scientist part is God's inclination.
You could have decided to become a master criminal or a Las Vegas odds maker, so taht, too is free will. Deciding to be a scientist
Free will decides whether you pull the pants of a passed out girl down and have sex with her whiles shes out or put a blanket over her and guard her all night because you have compassion for her
Free will

Neither, as explained by christian concepts.
It's really simple: if there is an all-knowing god, as claimed by the christians, then there is no such thing as free will. If god knows everything, you cannot possibly ever make a choice about anything that he doesn't already know that you'll make. If the outcome of every decision is already known, and you cannot possibly make a choice contrary to what god knows you'll make, there cannot possibly be "free will."
On the other hand, if you do have "free will," then you would have to be able to make a choice that would "surprise" god. For there to be a true choice, how you'll choose can't already be known absolutely by anyone or anything. So if you have free will, then god is not all-knowing. Those two things are absolutely not compatible.
But, since there's no evidence of any kind that there is any such thing as "god," in the real world things are much simpler. There are causes and effects -- that's it. Sometimes you have control over aspects of your life, and you can choose what to do. Such choices bring about consequences, good and bad. Other times you have no control -- a tsunami wipes out your village, the stock market crashes, your company fails and you lose your job, your mother dies in a car accident...your life is affected by these things despite you never having made a choice regarding them.
Life is really very simple: try to make good choices when you can, and roll with the punches with all the other stuff that happens. Learn from the mistakes you'll inevitably make in your choices, and understand that there will be events in your life over which you have no control. Simple, no pre-destiny or supernatural mythical gods involved...and entirely reasonable.
Peace.

WHat an astounding question. right this is how I comprehend the topics. sure, God gave each and every man or woman finished loose-will to make any selection on any subject and act in besides the fact that way they see greater healthful. besides the fact that if, each and every thing happens in accordance to God's will and plan. God isn't sure with the help of time or area and hence He already is well-known with what is going to ensue. An occasion might help. have you ever been interacting with somebody and, till now they suggested or did something, you knew precisely what they have been going to do? Did your fore-awareness ward off them from doing something thoroughly distinctive? God has a plan for us as nicely as infinite advantages he's waiting to bestow on us if we merely carry on with His commandments and stay in communion with Him. His plan, although, would be fulfilled regardless.

The so called FREE WILL is a power given to man , it doesn't mean to do what you want to do , it means to choose between what satan offers you (the bad apple), and what God offers you. So read the Bible to be able to choose % what God offers you.Eve and Adam never had free will . God forbidden them to eat the apple ...The idea of free will is a phylosophic idea that doesn't come from God but is mixed with theology, because theology got sometimes something from around although I don;t think is a good idea .
Of course people have freedome from God..all the freedome possible..But not the freedome to do bad things and hurt the other. So it is forbidden to do bad things. We should remember this.and forget to invoke the idea ...I do what I want We the Christians say ..we do our God's will.Because the truth and the right thing only God knows and do it...Satan tries to make us do bad things..that hurt the others..As the 10 comandments show..they are commandements ..not suggestions..

Well you have the power to do your own thing to certain extent like for example will I shop lift or will I refuse that temptation, Will I listen when my parents give me advice or not. things like that. But God controls everything else whether there is a hurricane or not, the people that turn up in your life (good people or people you can witness to).
As for the bad things like murder that is people who give into the temptation of Satan and sin causes pain. God turns that pain into a way to draw you closer to him.
some versus for God's will:
psalm 16:7, psalm 48:14, acts 7:9-10, acts 16:6-7
some versus on decisions:
judges 6:1, psalm 119:105, ezekiel 11:12, matthew 7:3-5

The answer is yes to both. Think of it this way. We are on a boat headed across the river. We can do anything we want on the boat, however, God is in control of where the boat goes, how it gets there, and the conditions under which the boat travels.
God gives man free will in some things because He wants man to choose to freely love Him. God hasn't made man God...man just has a few freedoms to choose.
The biggest one (choice) is whether he will choose to honor God and His world or go his own way, where eventually all the benefits of God will go away (hell).
It's really that simple.

Why are they opposites? Things do happen according to God's plan, they always do. You do have free will, but I think you are mistaken in what you are free in choosing.
If you choose not to acknowledge God, then you are not a part of God's plan. If you do choose to accept Him, then you are a part of His plan. If you are one of God's children, then you don't have the free will to say "No thanks God, I don't like that plan" ... that is NOT part of your free will.

Free Will is still being debated today and in my opinion doesn't exist. What we do have is a limited choice between options because if we truly had Free Will, we could will ourselves in to fight without an Airplane. Free Will has to follow all of the physical laws of the universe.
