i think its an english exam but just wanted to knw if its to do with grammar or just general language

It is a general test about life in the UK you can got to www.lifeintheuktest.gov.uk/ it is a site that you can take practice tests on & I believe that it has a link to the real testing site. Best of luck to you.

There is no exam for obtaining permanent residence - this is a visa issue. I think you are referring to the British Naturalisation exam which is an extra step you can now take and is optional.

What are you talking about. You are either a British citizen by birth or you are not. There are no exams.
You can not earn British status!
