My answer comes in the form of a quote from a song "And the sign says "Everybody welcome, come in, kneel down and pray"
But then they passed around a plate at the end of it all
And I didn't have a penny to pay
So I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own little sign
I said, "Thank you Lord for thinking 'bout me, I'm alive and doing fine" On the other side of that I am the father of a mentally challenged child and the church has never been there for my family, in fact we were frowned upon for attending as she wasn't quiet. I was a devout Catholic until then, now I get my "religion" from praying in the privacy of my own home. As the church has taught us God is with us all the time he has no correlation with a certain building.

Yes I tithe. I use 10% as a guideline but I usually tithe more and give where the Spirit leads me.
I found that when I was in debt, I could not tithe the way I wanted too. Once out of debt, no problem not having enough money. God always provides. Plus its His money anyway.
My tithes are broken down. I tithe to missions and general tithes. I make it a part of my monthly budget.
Our Church takes up a special collection sometimes for building maintenance, like a new roof or some big ticket item.
But the general tithes pay probably for electricity, heating, the Pastor's salary, water bill, Communion items, etc. It is where I worship so I don't have a problem with the monies paying for these things.
If you can't make ends meet, tithe what you can. God understands.

I don't tithe in church b/c I have moved around and haven't found a church home. I do believe that charitable contributions are the same as tithing. I believe the scriopture also says that the Lord will provide but trust me, I know it is hard when you can't make ends meet. I give what I can and I also know there are other things you can do to give - like volunteering your time.

I tithe when I can, with whatever amount I can. I support Christian charities through my church. I also support all the different things my church does.
I don't really have a set amount I give each month, but I do try to give about $60-80 monthly.
I've noticed that when I tithe, we don't struggle financially. When I DON'T tithe, we wind up going in the negative. It never fails.

I tithe when I am able! I tithe when God is calling me to tithe! I tithe cheerfully, never looking back, or regretting, or complaining about how much I give because I know it is for a good cause! But however, a person must watch out for giving tithes in vain.
(Matthew 6:1)1"Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Well, the Bible says you should tithe 10% and offerings are above and beyond that. It also says you should save, but I think the thing you are asking is, if you give all that how will you afford to live. It basically works on faith... The idea is that if you give 10% obediently, you will be rewarded and you will not go without. God feeds the birds in the trees so he will not let his children go hungry.... But anyway, that is the jest of it. I hope Ihelped!

Tithing is for the benefit of the church and her members. Without it we wouldn't have churches or materials to teach our members. I pay 10%. That's all that has been asked of us. Its not too difficult.

In the USA, many Diocese are almost bankrupt because of the legal cost of all those pedophile priests law suits. So keep the money flowing . I am not sure you can call that a charity but the money is badly needed.
Don't forget also to give a share to the televangelists. The price of spreading the gospel doing meth with male hookers is also getting higher every day.
Peace brothers....

Nope. Why would I? I think religion is a load of crap. Tithing is just another way for the church to control your lives.
