My dr. say's just a pinched nerve not to worry, but this has been going on for over a year and my hip seems to be hurting more often.

Its a nerve....lay on your back...put a towel around your leg just above the knee joint...hold both sides of the towel and pull your leg towards your torso for 10 minutes everyday...it will go away....

get a second opinion just in case. it probably is a pinched nerve. my right leg is constantly numb at the top because of a damaged nerve in my back. what troubles me is i had blood clots go to my lungs and nearly kill me a few years ago after an knee operation. which just before that happened i noticed my whole leg went numb. but sounds like you have had it for quite a while so it wouldnt be that, i just like to warn people to watch out for leg pain and numbness, because deep vain thrombosis is such a silent deadly killer.

It maybe a pinched nerve,but I would find another Dr. if they wont investigate further after a year with worsening and more frequent symptoms.

If you haven't had a MRI done, then you should have one to evaluate your spine. You could have a disk problem that needs to be addressed and the the MRI can detect these problems. Good luck and hope I've been of some help.

I think your doctor is right, it sounds like a pinched nerve to me as well....

If you aren't sure about your doctors diagnosis, I would suggest seeing another doctor, and perharps doing a scan of the areas.
