Yes, those are words that are made from smaller words for that exact reason.
Any dictionary that has etymology can show you lots of words like that.
Did you know there are plenty of words that make no sense at all if you chop them up?
re/cord, pimp/le, spi/der, mack/er/al.
So your point is that some words are composed of smaller words stuck together. OK.
