The exact etymology is unclear, but it is certainly NOT an acronym. The f word has been in use for hundreds of years and the acronym explanation has only been around for less than fifty. It's pure urban legend.
Edit: Eryn, not "trust", but "thrust". You misread.

Sources such as the Oxford English Dictionary contend the true etymology of the "F" word is still uncertain but appears to point to an Anglo-Saxon origin.
The first known occurrence, in code, is in a poem composed in a mixture of Latin and English sometime before 1500.
From the "somewhat and sometimes" trusty Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/****#Etymology
It is unclear whether the word has always been considered vulgar, and if not, when it first started to be considered vulgar. Some evidence indicates that in some English-speaking locales it was considered acceptable as late as the 17th century meaning "to strike" or "to penetrate."
Other evidence indicates that it may have become vulgar as early as the 16th century in England.
Quite interesting reading, regardless of the subject matter!

Wow, i never knew fokken meant trust in Middle Dutch. In Afrikaans which is my mother toung, that would be taken as extremely insulting, lol. Now i also wonder, cos Afrikaans also came mostly from Dutch, how a word meaning trust became a swear word.

I know I have the uncanny skill of missing the plainly obvious, but... What exactly is 'wrong' with saying f*ndamentalist?
"Outta my way, you're stealing my oxygen...". To quote South Park, the old Nintendo game. I knew I'd heard it somewhere.
