You need a new alternater

or It could be as simple an an alternater belt...but on a 5.0 mustange...depending on the year...that belt would also be connected to the pullies on your power steering and water pump...so I'm guessing its just the ALternater...you can buy a new one at Advance Auto for 113.00...they are very easy to replace...

Probably either a bad cell in the battery or the regulator in the alternator is stuck on and is draining the battery when it isn't running. Have them checked at AutoZone or your local auto parts store.

Get a Haynes Repair Manual at the local Auto Zone or auto parts store in your area. It will troubleshoot and show you how to fix your vehicle. Also on the Auto Zone site has a section for vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting tips.

If you get it running, then drop by the Zone or other auto place for a free battery/alternator test. Then they can tell you what is wrong.

Bookmark and put in your car year and model.

Go to troubleshooting tips if you want to look. But buy the manual for future reference

You may want to check your alternator. If its gone bad, you battery won't recharge as you drive around town causing it to drain each time you start your engine or use various electrical devices inside your car.
