Because my mom has been acting like super ***** for the past week... she usually is a *****, but JESUS.

I asked her a question last night, and she snapped at me like nothing else. She also started yelling at me and accused me of stealing something... Geez, I do well in school and I am about to graduate top of my class, and she finds the biggest excuses to ***** at me. I can't move out like I did before... since they all live on the other side of the country :(

Maybe she is bipolar.

I also told her that I broke up with my boyfriend, and she starts yapping on about "how ti isn't over" and how "i'll run back to him". Jesus, can I get an, "aww, honey?". I swear, this woman is crazy. My brother is moving out... I wish that I can go with him...

Both my parents acted very strange and moody in their 40ies and 50ies. They mellowed out in the 60ies. I guess menopause and midlife crisis makes people cranky.

(BTW, Sugar, I have tried to answer your question on whether Russians are considered Caucasians. It was "resolved" however the best answer was not very accurate. I lived in Russia for ten years so I will give you this very concise answer:

Caucasian is a US term of classification. In Russia, you would use the term European, or "Europoid". If you use the very loose US term, I would say- yes. Russians are a Slavic ( same as Polish, Czech, people mixed with Ugric( same as Hungarian or Finnish) ethnicities.

However, people in that corner of the world including Germans, Norwegians, etc have an admixture of Tat-C- a chromosome from Siberia. It got into their blood through some mixture with Mongolians. Russians are therefore 86% European and 14% Mongolian. Finns have 55% of that chromosome. Swedes- 8%. However, it does not mean that an average Swede or Finn, or a Russian on the street of Moscow looks like an average Chinese person on the streets of Beijing.

British and Irish people do not have that chromosome as a rule, therefore, to many Americans of that decent, these peoples may look "slightly Asian". However, no Russian /Norwegian/Finn looks Asian to Asian people in Japan, China, Korea etc.

Many Russian features that you find unusual are also of Slavic or Ugric ( Hungarian) origin- something you may not be used to. But within the context of America, these would be considered within the "Caucasian" realm of classifications.

More about Tat-C chromosome is here, with illustrations:

And also, one more thing- the modern US/Canadian classifications of Caucasian/White, Black, Asian, Hispanic are too simplistic and unscientific. It, therefore, causes confusion and identity crises in many people.

For example, please look at all the different variations of Caucasians according to modern anthropology: They are not all blond blue eyed people.

Sorry I had to digress but I was not able to email or contact you otherwise.)

Going back to menopause. I am no in my forties and I do have wild mood swings and my body is undergoing changes. I guess noth men and women are susceptible to it.

Unfortunately menopause does mess with your hormones, and emotions.
Try talking to mom about this.
I myself am going through "The Change". If I get too difficult, I have my family tell me. That way, I can think about what I'm complaining about, and whether it is a real issue, or one my hormones has blown out of proportion.
I'm sure your mother doesn't mean to act this way. It's just something you don't realise you are doing sometimes.
Best of luck to you, and your mother.

Yes. You need to bring it to her attention the way she's acting.
