Yawning actually has nothing to do with being tired. It is caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain. When you are tired, you have a lower oxygen level, therefore you yawn. If your oxygen level drops just enough to make you yawn, there is nothing wrong with that. If it drops so low that you are having other symptoms, then you have a problem. Yawning can be problematic to people who tend to yawn a lot or yawn really big. You can have problems with your lower jaw. Popping, cracking, some people yawn so big there jaw might actually lock up. So to summarize, no, in most cases yawning is not bad for you, just contagious and annoying.

Wow, seems a silly question but it is interesting. Yawning is a natural act gifted by nature, this happens if you are sleepy, or tired, or have just got out of sleep or had heavy food to eat.
Yawning, is good at regular intervals, but if you have yawn at a road side or where there is too much dust, pollution, etc be careful & have a hand on your mouth so you can be at a safer side. If you still feel you are serious with this then consult a Dr.

It is actually good for you. You yawn because your brain is not getting enough oxygen. When you get tired your breathing slows so less air is being circulated through your body. It is just your bodies natural reaction. As for your head hurting, maybe you are yawning too big. Or possibly you have TMJ (Tandem Mandible Joint). If you open your mouth too wide it can cause head aches or jaw pain.
