Baby food won't hurt your dog as a matter of fact when dogs are having digestive problems or just have received charcoal treatments, vets recommend that you feed them only baby food. The problem in your case is you have a young dog who you are trying to set on a FIRM program. Some pups have problems with kibble and most smaller breeds prefer canned foods. Merrick can food is great for all dogs including the finicky eaters, I have never seen a dog turn a can of Merrick down. If you insist on feeding your dog kibble then just add a little Merrick into the mix, just tightly seal the can and refrigerate the unused portion. Save the baby food for when he is feeling ill and the vet recommends it.

I have an 11 month old Cocker Spaniel who didn't like the dry kibble I was giving her so I switched to another brand called Eagle Pack. She seems to like it much better. As for the baby food you have to be careful because they use certain additives to give it flavor and these can be poisonous to your dog. There is a wet food that you can mix with you dogs kibble called Spots Stew and I promise you you will have no problem with him eating it. Good luck and have fun with your puppy. Unfortunately they grow up so fast.

I say it is okay...but dont use a lot of baby food just add a little and if you see and effects to your puppy dont put any baby food in the dry kibble. What i do is when my yorkie had puppies i just had kibble and warm water. Let the kibble sit in the warm water until it is kind of soft...so it will be easier to chew.

You really shouldnt.
I had a shih poo who didnt eat for like 2 days. They only way I got him to eat was to put him in his crate to eat. It took him a while to get used to "eating by himslef" but he eventually did it. Also if you have another dog, you may want to try and put the maltese in a crate or another room. That is what I did, because I got a corgi the same day as the shih poo, (only becasue I have 4 kids, and the girls get one, and the boys get one.) We thought that Scruffi (shih poo) was just scared because of Corki (corgi) to eat his food. They shared the same bowl and Corki would always growl and nip at Scruffi so we eventually placed him in a crate with the door locked so corki couldnt get at him. He figured that the metal bars were keeping him safe so he ate.
If you dont have two dogs, then just try changing his dog food. Sometimes dogs dont like a certain type of food. I would deffinitly not give him any baby food, because then he will never learn to just like dry dog food. I would suggest going with canned dog food that baby food.
Good luck with your new maltese!! They make really great compainions!!

I have several Maltese dogs, and from time to time, they
also don't want to eat their food, but don't give it baby food.
The dry dog food comes in small bites and that would be
good for your small pup to eat. You can add other kinds of
food, like canned dog food, or mash up the food with some
warm water. But you should not give the dog human food.

I would consider using canned puppy food instead. He is young and toy breeds are often fussy, so this is a common problem. Also, if you give him crunchy bones and treats and brush his teeth reguarly, you can even feed him all canned puppy food. Just make sure you choose a high quality dog food: Innova Evo, Chicken Soup, Wellness, Artemis, Merrick, etc. No grocery store brands!

It"s ok, won't hurt him. I have a two year old Border Collie that walks away from her wet food at night [ she gets it once a day at night ] and I take shredded cheese and sprinkle it on top and it is gone in minutes.
Vet says its fine won't hurt to bribe them a little, she suggested I use baby food, [carrots, peas, sweet potatoes. and applesauce.
Anything else will hurt the dog. So I know switch off & on with it.

If you are talking about the baby meat then yes it's OK to do that. Just a teaspoon full! Use the chicken or veal, or turkey flavors. That's what my vet told me to do when one of my Golden pups came down with some kind of stomach virus. I wouldn't make is a permanent thing but just until he gets bigger than its OK.
