you to start - run - type in msconfig - this will bring up the system utility wizard - click on the startup tab - uncheck what you do not want auto starting - hit apply - restart your pc , when you do a box will come up saying you have used the utility wizard , click do not show again , and your all set

I recommend the use of the Windows startup manager http://www.neosoft-tools.com/windows-startup-manager.htm
It disables any startup programs and fully controls startup by selecting the programs to be launched, while customizing the startup settings (ie how often and when programs should be launched, etc).

Start>All Programs>delete stuff from the "Startup" folder
