I can just rest and ignore her for awhile.

The best way is to talk to someone who's not actually involved in the frustrating issue; a friend, family member, pastor, counselor, therapist.
Talk through the situation(s) causing the frustration. It really does help to talk, even though it sometimes seems silly. I had to learn this coping mechanism. Sometimes it can be quite a task to stay 'caught up', but it works.

The most important thing is to first identify it as frustration. What I will do is then ask myself if the situation really matters enough for me to be all worked up about it. If it does, then I step away and get another game plan together.
By now I have calmed down a lot.

If you feel angry, you may want to beat a mattress... the best you can do is vent your frustration in a way that it WON'T hurt YOU :-) .
I hope it helps at least a bit

I find journaling pretty helpful. It's even more helpful if I can share my vents with some supportive family and friends who can give me an alternative point of view.

Swear and try to find a laugh.
Spend some time with my kids, after the swearing jag, they're always good for a stress relieving giggle.
If I can't be with my kids at that moment, I think about them, it's very calming and uplifting.

I've never been very good at it. Stand up comics get paid big bucks to do it though. Chris Rock has some of the best observational humor. Don't know if it makes him any happier though...

I stop looking higher but I look at every little thing under me, you must forget about what you want and take a deeper look at what you have. I'm pretty sure you'll find more interesting things there...
