I saw a bird at my bird feeder. It's body is a deep black and the head of the bird is brown. It's a smaller type of bird. I've never seen one like it before, but there were several out there today. Does anyone have any idea what kind of bird this might have been.

I'm in Kentucky if that helps any.

Sounds like a cowbird. They are brood parasites and will lay their eggs in the nests of other birds, leaving them there for the other mother to raise. Since cowbird chicks are bigger than the biological mothers chicks, she feeds them more thinking them healthier and more likely to live. She doesn't realize they're not hers. Then her baby birds die. I hate those things. I spent a whole day last summer standing on my balcony with a super-soaker protecting a family of sparrows from them....which was a big ol' waste of time because I couldn't stand there forever and nature had to take it's course :-(

That's a very general description and rarely can you indentify a bird purely based on color or even location. What I'd suggest is buying a book about wild birds and looking it up. You'll get a much more descriptive answer and it'll also have pictures and things like that in it that'll help you to identify what you saw.
