Can I make you believe anything about my beliefs? No, one has to have the desire to know more about a concept. If you are adimant about your own beliefs, great. But don't down grade another for theirs, who's to say what you believe is true. One things for sure, in death all truth will be revealed. And hope what you believe is true, for your own sake.

I make no apologies for my belief in God, Jesus, salvation, heaven and hell. That's my point. A bit of sarcasism, yes. Simply to reinforce my initial thought. It's hatred that, I can't tolerate in folks in regards to others. Racism, christianity, sexism and the like. I make no effort to degrade one for their beliefs, neither should anyone else. If you have facts, state them. But to judge if one is beautiful, intelligent, or the lack of potential to grow, I don't do.
As I always say, " A man can't change who he is, but he surely is able to change what he does" Hypocrisy, no...a stand for my beliefs and character, YES.

How would you like to be rubbed?

2007-03-18 06:20:20 · answer #1 · answered by neil s 7 · 1 1

Well, that depends.

Those that flame do it for a few possible reasons:
1) It's fun to flame on the internet! Whee!!!
2) How dare you ask such an insulting silly question? Grow up!
3) I have a problem with what you say because it seriously conflicts with what I believe is right! Grow up!
4) I hate you! GAH!

There are the others that don't mean to flame but perhaps sound insulting anyway in their manner. These are usually the ones who have possibly been of a previous belief system and believe that such a system harms and hurts others with deception.

You are right in that our beliefs are our own. But, forgive me please, if I say that there is a possibility that most people have belief systems that aren't quite their own, either through indoctrination or just going with whatever suits their lifestyle rather than what suits the truth. Hope is a great thing but seeking what is true is rather a better concept if you're interested in the truth.

Appreciate the sentiment.

You're asking a very fundamental question. Why do folks rub
each other not just on this site. Why do Shia's rub Sunni's the wrong way, and vice versa? Why do Protestants rub Catholics the wrong way, and vice versa? Why does any body rub others the wrong way? I believe it's just human nature." My way is better than yours and if you don't believe it, well then, you're just going to go to hell" (or some other bad place as dictated by any particular belief) . What gets me is that we do rub each other the wrong way and do it in the same 'Gods' name

Most of the time, it's not intentional...

People seem to struggle with beliefs different than their own. Often I notice people feel personally attacked if someone simply has a different opinion....

But then there are the antagonists and trolls.....

and then there is the implied "you're going to hell" like "hope what you believe is true, for your own sake."

A little hypocritical? Was that intentional?

Depends on what your beliefs are.

If you believe your high prophet can marry a 6 year old and mate her at nine you face some problems with a few of us.

Or does that not matter to you.

Decide. Make a choice. Take a stand. Otherwise let me do WHATEVER THEY WANT to WHOMEVER THEY WANT.

Get the point.

For lots of people it's the only rubbing they get. Ego massage, perhaps? But I agree with Mr Pants, there is an "undertone" to your post which implies that you aren't as tolerant as you would like us to believe.

Atheists are more miserable and profane than even a blood-drinking Satanist. How so? Even the Satanist concedes to the metaphysical world, to the ontological soul. That atheists deny the Creationist’s Supreme-Creator, God, is not the measure of their ignorance, but that Atheism denies a substrate which underlies mere phenomena and the flux of materiality.
Creationists believe the complexity and beauty of the cosmos is the result of the will of a sentient being, supreme and before which nothing is,…this position is wrong. Worse still on a level immeasurable, is the position of the Atheist who thinks the complexity and entirety of the universe is the happenstance of cosmic flatulence, akin to apes on typewriters, given enough time, eventually producing Shakespearean plays.
Atheists are the most miserable lot that exists, they look for Subjectivity in the objective world of magnitude and measure and, not finding same therein, deny the Subjective spirit which is the basis for all metaphysics. Like the man who, walking outside his own house, and looking back in upon his window and declaring ‘nobody lives here’, or the child who looks for a signal inside the radio receiver, or for little-peoples ‘inside the television set’, the Atheist is possessed fully by agnosis, which in its fullness, is the praise of death, of mortality most miserable. Their alter is the body doomed to the grave, their prayer is for sensual pleasures as highest, their God is death. Their salvation from suffering is the desire for non-existence (vibhava) which could never come.”–
