if a guy says he asked your friend to hook up w/ him just to see if she would betray you should you believe it? is it a legit reason or a bad excuse? He's cheated in past relationships but his best friends SWEAR he's on the straight and narrow. i don't know...

The only reason he's telling you is becuase the friend turned him down and now he's scared she's going to tell you. He's covering his butt. Dump him.

The saying "once a cheater, always a cheater" is around for a reason...although it's not literally true, it's correct more often than not. People who cheat, often do it again.
If someone says they were testing you or a friend in the way you describe, I'd be hesitant to believe it. At the very least it shows a lack of trust....at most, it shows they'd cheat with your friend if that person was as big a louse as they are.
NOT a legitimate reason...sounds like a sorry cover their azz story.

It it not true that he will cheat again. I know from experience because I made the mistake of cheating on my girl and it was one of the worst decisions i ever made. What he is saying could be true, if he is jealous of your friends either by the time you spend with them or he just doesnt like them for certain reasons. On the other hand if you have ever noticed him checking out your friend then what he is saying is probably a lie. But for him to be a cheater and not do it again ways heavily on factors in the relaionship such as trust, love, and involvement.

Ok, he's some type of degreed psychiatrist?he's using you to get to her, honestly who is or would have betrayed you, Has he ever cheated before he met you? If he thinks that's a good excuse of why he hit on her then he's a moron. why degrade yourself being with someone like that, the fact you have to ask proves you don't trust him. Oh yes, you can tell easily by the way they treat each other around you...do they treat each other better than they treat you? Dead give away.

First off, if he asked your friend to hook up with him, he did it because he wants to have sex with her and there is no other reason for it.
The other question is impossible to give one answer to, because every guy is different. Some guys cheat once and feel so guilty and horrible that they never do it again. Some cheat as many times as they can get away with.
I would leave him if I were you, and I would do it to teach him a lesson.

Of cousre. And if your willing to believe he won't think again. Don't let him fool you.
If a women comes up to him ,in a bikini. and ask him to go home with her.
Do you think he will turn her down?
Put a picture of a naked women ,where he can see it. and see if it disappears. And see if it gets moved or not.
Put it in a position, so you would be able to tell if its was moved from the spot.
Like set it next ot something, and mark its position.
Make sure its only noticible to you, so he won't catch on. Make it a picture of a sister or a gf. someone he knows.
If not just use one of any women.
Like put a piece of scocth tape on the back. Or mark it with something, and see if it smears. So when or if he picks it up, it would be easy to detect.

Sometimes yes and sometimes no yes more than no. unfortunately time will tell only. No one should test a person that way. the guy is up to something and it is not good. I would not trust a person that test a friend like that it is asking for BIG TROUBLE!

It depends on what your guy values. Everyone's not perfect and even good people fall for temptation and commit mistakes. I'm not saying you should or should not forgive him, it's up to you. You're the one that knows him and dated him, so you should know his personality better than me. If he's someone who acts like a good little boy around you and does everything on the contrary when you're not around, then he'll most likely to cheat on you again.

That guy has no right putting your friendship with that girl to the test. He's trying to come between you. Let me say this- if you stay with this guy, you must be one desperate girl.
