Listening to English music, any kind, can help you get used to more of the words. Also, watching English TV, and reading books written in English will help you improve. You could also speak more English, and make sure you practice your writing regularly. Ask an American friend to help you learn more words, and ask if you are spelling right, and study with them. Also, go to online translators to learn more words. There are a lot of ways to improve your English. You could try this:

Their is no other way of mastering an art except by practising it. So the best way to improve is by beginning today and now make it a point to read , speak, write and hear the language as much as possible. The right form of english that is Worth reading to master the language is subscribing to some standard english daily like times of india, make it a point to read the editorial page everyday. Make it a habit to watch channels like Times Now and other similar ones which telecast News discussions listening to which you can not only learn correct pronunciation but also begin feeling comfortable with the language. If you have time also make it a practice to write a paragraph or two on any topic of your choice. Now and then also hold conversations in the language with people who are comfortable with the language. If there is no one then also you may try speaking it now or then for your own sake. You may also refer to some good grammar book like the one by Wren and Martin to brush up rules of speaking the language. Last but not the least remember their is no shortcut to success, for even God helps those who help themselves. Once you begin different choices of ways to proceed will open up for you themselves. Wish u all the best.

Get a pen-pal! Or watch American t.v, listen to English music. Go on www.youtube.com, they have thousands of songs in English. Read English newspapers, or just go on Yahoo! Answers like you are doing now. You're in the right place to learn plenty of English! Just keep reading and translating, and you'll learn.

Well, first of all, make some patient American friends, and have them help you. After that, you might want to take some after collage courses for English. And finally, you could read parts of the dictionary and look carefully at the pronounciation areas. Believe me, it can really help.

Good luck! ;)

Hello Irene!
You're very welcome to write to me if you like ... or if it's oral practice you want, we can even talk with Messenger (con le cuffie) ... just send me an email if you want to do this, as I normally have Messenger switched off. I happen to know your English is pretty good already ... as good as my Italian!
Ciao!
Cosimo
PS complimenti per le buone risposte, sei sempre corretta :-)
