I would dry mat them... cut the image out - cut off the white edges of the print and put it on mat board. Make sure the mat board is not too thick though.

Matted on boards that are as few sizes as possible. Just use the standard ones. Do a good job on this. They can't be at all crooked or have unclean lines. Slides that can be submitted to the colleges are also necessary for some schools.

I think that most colleges accept portfolios in slide form only. So it doesn't matter if your photographs are matted, as long as you then put them on a slide that can be placed in a projector. Ask your art teacher, they should know where you can get your work converted to slide form.

I think it depends on the college requirements. But the photo's would look nicer if you did mat them.

Your pictures have to sell themselves. If they don't make the viewer impressed or ah struck at the image or pose, than all the bells and whistles will just make you look good at arts and crafts.
