You might concider Dark Star. About thirty years ago my sister found an all black kitten lying on the side of the road dying. She picked it up and took it to the vet. Against all odds, the little fellow survived. My sister kept him and named him Dark Star. He turned out to be a little lover. Not a mean bone in his body. She had several cats, but this one was special and my very favorite. He lived a good long and happy life. Good luck and much joy with your new friend. And remember: Embrace these little and not so little ones. Guard them, protect them, and grant them a peace that only we as humans can deny them.

Do you realize that for every 1 person born, there are 7 puppies and kittens
born? At best, 1 will find a forever home.
And don't forget, that every "Free-to-good-home" litter takes homes away
from animals already at the shelter.
STOP letting your pets; or your friends, relatives or co-workers pets
contribute to the problem.
If you love animals, it is NOT ENOUGH to merely say "My pets are fixed".
Vow to educate and enable others to fix their pets too.
Spaying just 1 female dog or cat, will prevent 6 others from ending up in a
shelter the following year.
Please be part of the solution, NOT the problem!
Thank you. ^..^

I have two cats. The boy is 10 years old. The girl is four. I don't really name cats. They are, after all, cats, and will come to you when they want to, regardless of what you call them. The boy, his name was just 'boy,' until he grew into this mammoth, mutant, 31 pound snuggle-monster. He is now 'Mr. Boy.' The girl is 'kitty.' Just kitty. Or sometimes she is 'da boopie,' or just 'boopie'. Both of them will respond to tone of voice, as they both have separate voices that I use when interacting with them. Visiting girlfriends have said that it is cruel or heartless to have cats with no names, but the cats don't seem to mind. In fact, most people, even those owned by cats, say they have rarely seen cats that are so friendly and accepting of affection. But if you simply MUST have a name to call the cat, try this: In a week or so, the little buggers are going to start romping all over the place. Get in the habit of just calling to them as you observe them swarming your house like a team of tiny, rocket-powered ninjas. At about six to twelve weeks, their little personalities will begin to set, and you will start to see all the little personality differences. Also, by this time, you will have started to habitually call them different things, and should have a few choices that will fit. Rember, the cat has supreme confidence in its selfdom, it needs no name to define itself or give itself meaning. It already knows it is the cutest, fastest, sneakiest, most glorious creature in all the world.

We've had all-black cats who were wonderful pets. Personally, I think neutered male cats make a great pet. Whether you get a male or female cat, be sure to handle the kitten often. Pet and stroke it from its head all the way down its back and tail. That way they get used to being handled and won't hiss when you try to touch it on certain parts of its body. They can also get used to being in water if introduced to baths early. My son used to take one of his cats in the shower with him. It was very gentle and loved the attention.
Names:
Ace, Boomer, Butch, Casey (we named our male Casey, but it's also a female name), Ebony, Felix, Ink, Jasmine, Jasper, Jellybean (like a black jellybean), Jet, Midnight, Onyx, Oreo, Raven, Satin, Shadow, Shine, Silk, Silky, Spooky, Spunky, Tuffy...

I would say Midnight or Smokey. Hazy and Misty might be cute, but I think Lucky might be funny because black cats are considered unlucky! My friends black cat is named Choco, and I really like the name Blackie or Coal. Also, Inky might be cute!!!

These are all names that mean "Dark" or "Black" or are things that are dark in color or are associated with darkness. But you don't have to name your kitty based on it's coloring. Name it whatever you think sounds best, or see what suits its personality. Something like Rascal, Tinker, Lovie or Boo-Boo may be more appropriate. Good luck raising the little ones!
